College career

Andrew was recruited to the University of Florida from Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida. In his freshman season with the club, he began every game and tallied the 4th-highest freshman assist total in school history. Following averaging 8.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists, and completing 5th in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in assist-turnover ratio he was named to the conference All-Freshman team. Just after a few days, he hit a buzzer-beater to upset Louisiana State University (LSU) in the 2019 SEC tournament.

Andrew declared for the 2019 NBA draft, but finally chose to go back to the Gators for his sophomore season. He then averaged 11.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game and led the SEC with a 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio. After the season, Nembhard declared for the 2020 NBA draft but hired an NCAA-certified agent, allowing him the option to return to Florida.

2020-2022

He then withdrew from the draft and joined the NCAA transfer portal on May 30, 2020. On June 23, 2020, he revealed that he would transfer to Gonzaga. Andrew chose the Bulldogs against offers from USC, Duke, Memphis, Stanford, and Georgetown. He was then granted a waiver for immediate eligibility on November 24.

In his first Gonzaga season, Nembhardmainly came off the bench (though he played more minutes per game than 2 Bulldogs starters). He averaged 9.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game for a team that joined its conference tournament unbeaten. Andrew was then named the West Coast Conference’s inaugural Sixth Man of the Year and was also named to the all-conference second team. He averaged 11.8 points, 5.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game as a senior. Andrew was then named to the First Team All-WCC. He declared for the 2022 NBA draft on April 21, 2022, forgoing his remaining college eligibility.

He was picked by the Indiana Pacers with the 31st overall selection. Nembhard then joined the Pacers’ 2022 NBA Summer League roster. In his Summer League debut, he scored 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in a 96-84 victory against the Charlotte Hornets. He then signed a four-year, $8.6M rookie deal with the club on July 22, 2022, the largest rookie deal ever given to a second-rounder. Andrew scored a buzzer-beating, game-winning 3-pointer in a 116-115 victory against the Los Angeles Lakers on November 28, With Tyrese Haliburton injured on December 5, Nembhard scored a career-high 31 points, 13 assists, 8 rebounds, and 5 three-pointers in a victory against the Golden State Warriors.
