Following being at risk of elimination five times throughout the course of the competition, she was selected by fan vote among the winners alongside Josh Bredi, receiving a $250,000 one-year deal with WWE on August 25. During the final, she adopted the ring name Hope and lost a singles match to Alicia Fox.
Lee was then assigned to WWE’s development territory NXT, based at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, to start training in September. Returning to her real name, she made her first appearance for NXT at a live event, where she delivered a heel promo on January 16, 2016. Lee made her in-ring breakthrough at the January 30 live event during a six-Diva tag team match, which also involved fellow Tough Enough competitor Mandy Rose. She was then released from her WWE deal on September 30, 2016. Lee was trained by Billy Gunn, Booker T, Lita, Sara Del Rey, and Team Vision Dojo.
