Lola Chantrelle Mitchell famously recognized by her stage name Gangsta Boo was a popular American rapper and the second female member (after K-9) of the Memphis-based hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia. Her solo album, Enquiring Minds, was launched in 1998 and attained No. 15 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and No. 46 on the Billboard 200. It featured the surprise hit ”Where Dem Dollars At!?” Boo’s second album, Both Worlds *69 (2001) reached No. 8 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart and number 29 on the Billboard 200. She then launched her third album, Enquiring Minds II: The Soap Opera in 2003. The album topped at No. 53 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart and 24 on the Independent Albums chart.
Gangsta Boo launched her third official mixtape The Rumors (after her previous mixtapes Street Ringer Vol. 1 and Still Gangsta) in 2009. She also launched 2 mixtapes with DJ Fletch, Miss Com (No DJ Version on iTunes), and 4 Da Hood. Boo then launched her mixtape with Trap-A-Holics, Forever Gangsta on June 27, 2011. She collaborated with Eminem and Yelawolf on the track ”Throw It Up”, the same year. Gangsta Boo joined the Three 6 Mafia spin-off group Da Mafia Six in 2013 and was significantly featured on their debut mixtape 6ix Commandments.
She then departed from the group in 2014. The extended play Witch, a collaboration with La Chat, was launched on May 27, 2014. On October 14, 2014, she teamed up with Beatking and launched a collaborative mixtape, Underground Cassette Tape Music, Vol. 1. A successor mixtape titled Underground Cassette Tape Music, Vol. 2 was launched in 2018. She was featured on Run the Jewels’ fourth album, RTJ4, launched in 2020, on the track ”Walking in the Show”. Gangsta Boo was featured together with GloRilla on the track ”FTCU” by rapper Latto in 2022.
Death
On January 1, 2023, she was found dead at her home in Memphis, at the age of 43. The cause of death was not immediately known.
