Death
On October 11, 2022, Willie was killed in a car crash on Interstate 24 near Chattanooga. Spence’s death was reported by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. As per WSB-TV in Atlanta, Spence was driving a Jeep Cherokee when he veered off 1-24 at around 16:00 ET. His car hit a vehicle that was stopped on the shoulder of the road. Luckily, the driver of that vehicle was not injured.
The official Instagram account for American Idol reposted a video of his audition for the show as a tribute. Beckham and Katharine McPhee, a contestant on the show’s 5th season who had previously performed with him, posted their own tributes on Willie on Instagram.
